Helen Edwards serves as Of Counsel to The Richardson Firm. Helen is the founding member of Comellas Edwards, PLLC and serves as outside general counsel to family-owned businesses, working closely with the owners, their CPAs, and financial advisors on corporate governance and compliance, risk management, strategic transactions, and succession planning. Since 2023, she has served as Director, First National Bank Texas, bringing a board-level perspective to issues involving governance, risk management, fiduciary duties, and long-term business planning. Helen also represents clients in probate, estate, and trust matters.

Helen began her legal career in litigation and served as Counsel in the Austin office of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright). Her litigation experience includes matters involving commercial litigation, fiduciary litigation, trade secret and restrictive covenant claims, constitutional and civil rights claims, governmental defense, and employment litigation. Her experience includes all phases of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation and settlement negotiations, arbitration, trial preparation, and serving as second chair at trials.

Helen serves as Attorney Ad Litem and Guardian Ad Litem by appointment of courts in Central Texas. She has been certified by the State Bar of Texas as eligible to serve in guardianship matters since 2015. In these roles, Helen provides independent representation for heirs, proposed wards, and minors in probate and guardianship proceedings.
